Ingredients:
I am very happy to present my Fan Blogger for the month of September, Lizz Siegel Pokorny. Today Lizz is sharing her Mom, Maria’s Favorite Flan. I have never made flan, but I love it. Lizz is a personal friend of mine. We met about 20 years ago volunteering for PTA in Tampa. She moved away and we have stayed in contact over the years.

For the caramel glaze:
1/2 cup sugar
For the custard (flan)
1 14oz. can sweetened condensed milk
2 whole eggs
1 cup milk
Heat sugar in small skillet on med-high heat, stirring occasionally until melted and brown. Spoon melted sugar over bottom and sides of shallow 1 quart baking dish.set aside to cool.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Blend eggs till smooth. Add both milks and combine with eggs. Pour into caramelized dish and place dish in a baking pan. Pour hot water into pan till halfway up sides of baking dish. Bake 1-1/2 hours or until knife inserted in middle of flan comes out clean. Remove dish from pan, cool then refrigerate for 3 hours. Run knife around top edge then invert onto plate. Enjoy!
*Please note that as soon as your sugar has melted, it should the color of caramel sauce, remove from heat. Sugar can easily burn and you do not want to taste the burned sugar in your flan. As soon as the sugar started to melt, I stirred it constantly to help the clumps of sugar melt faster.
**Lizz makes her flan in a one quart dish. I used ramekins and checked to see if they were done at one hour. I cooked the flan in the ramekins approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes.

I love flan too! This recipe is delicious. And easy. I highly recommend it!
